I don't know the story to the game exactly. All I know is that this guy sends you to save hostages and kill bad guys. In the end you have to fight this guy because he is the real bad guy. That's like being a detective and the chief tells you to find out who dunnit and it turns out to be the chief. Then you shoot it out with the chief. So your character's codename is viper. This game was really just a sad Contra. Your guy has very few moves. He can only shoot left or right. He can duck, jump, jump high to the next level, and drop down to the lower level. Most bad guys die in one or two shots and killing them isn't really fun. There really aren't any guys you have to pump full of lead, but there are secret doors everywhere. Try to spot the secret doors in the screenshot. They stand out really awfully don't they? So how come you went through that whole lever without getting the grenades? It's not as easy as it looks. Every door is a revolving door. When you open it you revolve to the other side. Whatever you rescued be it ammo, person, or nothing show up on the other side. If there is something in the door then it takes a few seconds before you flip back out. If it is empty it revolves quickly. In either case there is a short delay after you get out of a door before you can walk and shoot. During this delay your character faces the screen and does nothing. However he is very prone to damage. You have no idea how many times I got out of a door to touch a bad guy and die. Or how many times a sniper appeared while I was rescuing a skeleton. Yes if you take too long to get to a hostage they will only be a skeleton. I don't really know if the game does this or if the door always had a skeleton in it, but I noticed that I don't start getting skeletons unless I am delayed in progressing for some time by tricky jumps. You might think its boring just walking shoting and opening doors, but its not that bad. And the levels aren't all straightforward. There are parts with water holes and frog enemies jumping out to shoot you. There are also bad guys coming out of the doors that will kill you while you are entering. Some bad guys are tricky too. They jump up and hit you from under. Some guys will also fall down on your head. In early levels they will pause before doing either of these, but in later of these they get really tricky. Some will even jump on you. The problem is that only bullets hurt enemies, but if at any time you touch a guy you will get hurt. On the right hand side of the screen there are red balls and every time you get hurt you lose one. Some doors will heal you or add balls. When all the balls are gone you die and are sent back to the beginning or the middle point of the level. It's not a simple game as it seems. Also some doors have machine guns and ammo refills. If you run out of ammo you might as well kill yourself because there is no way you are going to get further. I'm really trying to turn the lemons of this game to lemonade, but this game isn't really that great. It's just ok. I only did it because I already had some screenshots of it and it was less work. This game doesn't even appeal to nostalgic people. It's just one of those games nobody bought. One thing to note is that cartridges are rare and valuable of this game.
