First some Galaga strategy for you newbies to good video gaming. ALWAYS shoot at the spot most enemies will cross over during fly-ins. You will hit more that way. If they travel in a vertical line hit that vertical line, trust me on this you will not get very far if you do not. Especially in Challenging stages you need to find an exact spot to shoot at for each set of baddies. If you hit that spot perfectly or near perfectly you can break 40 on the stage. If you kill all the guys in a row during their fly in you will get anywhere from 1000 to ? points. The higher the level the more points. Always try to kill as many as you can while they fly in in order to save you trouble when they swoop on you.The second thing you must learn is to dodge the drifters who come off of the fly ins. Most of the bugs who fly in get in line like in Galaxian waiting for the rest to arrive to start killing you. The rest break off of their lines and immediately try to crash into you and shoot you. You have to always move to the left and right at least an inch to avoid these kamikazes. If you look at the images around I'm sure you'll be able to tell which images go with which tip. The first is where you should shoot, the second is dodging kamikazes, the third is getting hit by kamikazes, and the last is thhe trap. The trap is the one thing that makes galaga better than galaxian and space invaders. Actually the trap and one other thing, but I'll get to that. The trap is when one of the buggers that you need two hits to kill fires his tractor beam. You have to stay to one side of the screen while he is shooting. If you can kill him while he is shooting without getting captured you get a bunch of bonus points. You have to do this as he is getting ready to fire or just finished firing. Anyway because you have to stay to one oside of the screen all the other buggers are more highly concentrated in the one area you have to stay in. It virtually shrinks the width of the playing field in half wihtout reducing the number of enemies. If you manage to not get hit by an enemy or missile you will soon find yourself not able to get to the other side of the screen again very easily. You have to find the one exact second that is free and zoom to the other side of the screen. If you don't beat the level after accomplishing that, you suk. That other thing I was talking about is the enemy morph. While playing you don't really notice what the baddies look like because you are paying attention to shooting everything that moves and dodging all the missiles. Well if you look carefully during a level you will see some guys that did not fly in with the other. These actually did fly in, but they changed shape. If you kill a set of shape changed guys you get bonus points. Sometimes you will see a familiar morph from Galaxian (The yellow guy). Then there's obvious strategy like: don't stop shooting because there is no ammo; dodge missiles; there are no power-ups don't touch anything with your ship and my favorite no you cannot go up and down, only left and right. Now for the review of Galaxian. It is the #1 space shooter game in existence. It is extremely difficult. I can only get up to level 26. If anyone has ever gotten to level 100 would kiss their feet. Send me a picture of Galaga at level 100 and I will...not do much, but I would like to see it. It's kind of hard to review a game and pick on stuff when there is nothing wrong with it.
