Do you remember the first football game for the Nintendo ever? Nope, not Tecmo Bowl it's ten yard fight. This game was prett lame, but it's the first Nintendo game in alphabetical order. Remember when all Nintendo games had the same stickers on the cartridge? Metroid, Mario, Baseball, Ice Hockey, all of them had the same style box and sticker. Ten yard fight wasn't called football because of two reasons. It's not really football, and might be confused with an atari game of the same name.

The gameplay of ten yard fight is very straightforward. The ball is kicked off, and you have to run up the field as far as you can. Sounds like football right? Wrong. You are in the middle of the other players on your team and you all run in sync at a slow slow speed. The strategy is to let your teamates get tackled while you run away. Offensive downs are all the same. One of your players runs back and forth at your control. Then you hike the ball. The player who runs back and forth runs down the field and the quarterback hangs out with one player on his left and one player on his right. These players don't do much while they just stand there. You then have three choices. Throw to the guy who ran down the field, pass to the guy on the left, and pass to the guy on the right. After you decide you run down the field as far as you can. It's a ten yard fight because as long as you get first downs you're ok. The field flips around so you're always going up for a touchdown. Defense is also simple. Choose a player and control them for the sack or interception. That's the whole game.

Ten yard fight has two play modes like most Nintendo Games. 1 Player and 2 player. 1 player mode is three games. High School, College, and NFL. You win three games and it's all over. I think so anyways, but I never won the NFL game. In two player game you play one game against your friend. There's not much you can do on defense, so if both people know how to play it usually goes to whoever gets the last touchdown.

If you're out to play a real football game get Madden or QB club. If you're a classic gamer and like old Nintendo football games ten yard fight is for you. I doubt you can find a copy, but my cousin has one. He'll sell it to you.
