Of all my years of gaming there is one game that has haunted me. This game is Mechwarrior 2. I purchased the game for my 486DX4 100mhz back in the day. It was great. It was the days when a CD-ROM and DOS was the hottest shit. The game had videos, 3d, the works. I ran at 640×480 and blew my friends away. I couldn’t turn it all the way up because I didn’t have a PCI video card. Heck, I didn’t have a PCI slot! Just 4 ISAs on a riser board.
Audioblogging
I finally got around to making an audioblog like I promised, but I don’t know how well received it is going to be. I’m actually kind of disappointed with the end result. I used rawrec and sox to make the ogg file as that is the simplest way possible. The more feedback on this the better, I want to experiment with this idea and hopefully do something creative and awesome. I made it with ogg, that way no matter what software setup you have there is a player than can play it. Also there are free tools to convert it if you want.
Collaborative Web Spreadsheet?
An interesting problem has come up recently. Oddly enough it is due to Puzzle Pirates. FYI Puzzle Pirates is the only MMO in which success is skill based. Other MMOs, like Everquest, are just glorified chat rooms accompanied by leveling treadmills. Whoever has been playing the longest is the best. Puzzle Pirates is actually a game of puzzling skill. In addition to that its also has a complex economy and politics surrounding it. And of course its also a glorified chat room, but with a Pirate theme, yar!
I Like to Ride my Bicycle
So yesterday I went to see “Supersize Me”. It’s a documentary that demonizes the food industry, especially fast food for marketing poison to the people. It also points out that people are really stupid for eating too much crap, which is my opinion. Anyway, in the movie the guy eats 3 meals of McDonald’s a day for 30 days. He gains a ton of weight, a gut and nearly destroys his liver.
Write a Book with a Wiki?
A few posts back I talked about writing a computer book. Well, do you think it would be cool if I wrote the book with a Wiki? I could lay out the chapters and short descriptions of what I wanted in each one. Then anyone who wanted could contribute and receive credit if their contribution made it into the final product.
Geekstock
Back in the hippy times there was this thing called Woodstock, you might have heard of it. Hoardes of like minded people gathered to celebrate music, freedome and all that other cool hippy stuff. I wish I was alive, it was probably a blast.
Should I Write a Book?
Just about every day either me or my roomate comes up with a crazy idea. We’ve never actually done any of them, but maybe one day we will. The ideas range from the ever popular “geek house” to gladiatorial combat in international waters. One idea that I’ve had for awhile, at least a few years, is to write a book.
