Like a lot of other nerds I go to various blog and RSS feeds and such to get the news about the stuff I care about. For “real” news I pretty much rely on google news and wikinews. Except of course for the occasional story that is so big it filters into the geek news. And of course, I don’t watch TV or listen to radio, etc. so lots of stupid useless news passes me by. And that’s the way I like it.
Like Liking
So I’m about to pack up my computer and head home. So before I do so I want to write about a phenomena I have witnessed many times. I have named this phenomena “like liking”. No, I’m not talking about like likes; the bad guys from Legend of Zelda who eat your shield. We’re talking about people who don’t actually like something, but pretend to like something because they like liking it.

Renewed Hatred
So I have no responsibilities in the world now, other than finding a job and packing to go home. So what is a nerd to do? Well I spent the first day playing space shooters like Gradius III and Raiden. Of course I started work on redesigning my entire website. And I also did a bit of other scripting and programming various tidbits. But inevitably a new video game was in order. I considered a few Gamecube Games, but a lot of them required more people, like four swords. So that wouldn’t work out well right now. I also considered Half-Life 2 since my Internet connection would soon vanish I wouldn’t be able to buy it later if I wanted. To make a long story short I caved and bought it on-line because I’m lazy. Oh, Half-Life 2 is freaking awesome. Like holy crap awesome.
Updating
OK, I just finished college. Actually, I have to hand in a paper and give a presentation tomorrow. But that’s it. I never have class again. And after a co-op in 10 weeks I will receive my BS degree in Computer Science. I’m still looking for a permanent job by the way.
RIP Ice Hockey
In memoriam of the sport of ice hockey I will display the greatest sports photograph ever taken.
Let it always be remembered what the score was on February 16, 2005. Rich people 1, Hockey Fans 0.
Neal Stephenson in Reason Online
Usually I don’t make this type of blog post. But this quote was so priceless and my glues isn’t really extensible to support me posting a quote in a place for people to see.
Hire Me!
That’s right, I’m graduating from college. In under 3 weeks from the time of this posting I will be completed with all coursework necessary to receive my B.S. in CS from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Obviously, this means I’m looking for work. Granted if you read anything I’ve written on this blog you’re probably thinking I’m a nut-case and would never want me to work for you. I can understand that. But also, if you’re the type of person who reads this blog you just might be the person who wants me to work for you. My resume is available on-line for your viewing pleasure.
